Once in a while people will send me pictures of book crafts, suggesting the craft is something we'd like because we love books.
We definitely appreciate a creative DIY craft, but we're in the business of restoration and conservation. We focus on period accuracy when restoring books; we'll even cringe a little when we see books that have been restored using incorrect material for their time period. I'm on Pinterest often and see crafty DIY projects destroying books and I think: There has got to be something else that could be used for that project instead of a book.
This beautiful sketch on the front flyleaf of an 1847 hymnal is book art.
