Hand Carved Tools: Bone Folders & Crochet Hooks.

I actually love to brag. . . about how talented my husband is.  I'm sorry I can't help it; that's what I do!  He has always loved woodworking; most of our studio pieces Joseph built.

We spend a lot of  time making things, and we often analyze the tools we use most.   Then we start modifying our favorite tools to work better for our needs.  This past week Joseph carved bone folders out of Osage Orange wood; which is absolutely beautiful, and really dense.  By creating his own bone folders he's able to shape them just as he likes!

I love crocheting, when the weather is a bit cooler than it has been lately of course.  But as I've explored crocheting, I've began to notice characteristics I like and don't like about different crochet hooks.  I asked Joseph to carve me a few different sizes of crochet hooks, and I am in love with them!  I'm currently using one to make a Pork Pie hat out of wool, and I love how it feels in my hand, and it never splits or snags the yarn.  My metal crochet hooks have actually snagged my more delicate yarns!

Of course we like everything we make to be complete, with our maker's mark and even proper sizing!

We hope everyone is having a great weekend!
